WACE ATAR Calculator (Western Australia)
Calculate your Western Australia ATAR from your best four scaled ATAR course scores. Enter your scaled scores — and any LOTE, Methods or Specialist bonuses that apply — and see your TEA and estimated ATAR, with the full working shown.
WACE ATAR Calculator
Enter scaled scores (0–100) for your 4 best ATAR courses. English competence is required for a WACE ATAR — check the TISC rules if you are unsure.
How the WACE ATAR is calculated
TEA = the sum of your best 4 scaled ATAR course scores. The maximum TEA is 400. TISC then converts your TEA into an ATAR. If a Language Other Than English, Mathematics Methods or Mathematics Specialist applies to you, TISC adds 10% of that subject’s scaled score to your TEA.
Worked example
Scaled scores of 78, 85, 72 and 90: TEA = 78 + 85 + 72 + 90 = 325, which estimates to an ATAR of about 92.83 (planning range about 90.8–94.8).
What is scaled TEA?
Scaled TEA is your Tertiary Entrance Aggregate after scaling. Scaling adjusts each course score for the strength of the cohort that took that course, so a TEA built from scaled scores can be compared fairly across all Western Australian students.
WACE scaling
Some WACE courses scale up and some scale down, depending on the cohort each year. Check the current TISC scaling information for your courses — the Subject Scaling Calculator explains how scaling works in general.
WACE ATAR results
WACE ATAR results are released by TISC in December each year. The exact release date changes every year, so check the current date on the TISC website rather than relying on last year’s date.

This is the WACE calculator for Western Australia — the atar western australia calculator, also called a TISC ATAR calculator. Enter your best four scaled ATAR course scores and it works out your TEA and estimated ATAR.
Common mistakes
- Counting five scores instead of four. Your TEA is the sum of your best four scaled ATAR course scores. A fifth score does not add to it, however strong it is.
- Adding the bonus as a full subject. The LOTE, Mathematics Methods and Mathematics Specialist bonus is 10% of the scaled score in that course, added to your TEA — it is not an extra subject at full value.
- Entering raw marks instead of scaled scores. The TEA is built from scaled scores (0–100), not raw exam marks. Use the scaled score TISC reports for each course.
- Counting a non-ATAR course. Only ATAR courses count toward the TEA. General and Foundation courses do not, even if you scored well in them.
TEA bonuses
TISC adds 10% of your scaled score in an eligible course to your TEA: a language other than English (LOTE), Mathematics Methods, or Mathematics Specialist. The bonus is calculated from the scaled score in that course, so a scaled score of 80 in Mathematics Methods adds 8 points to your TEA. Only one bonus per course type applies, and the bonus is added after your best four scores are summed.
